I am a huge fan of the original Ridley Scott Blade Runner film and was very excited to find that they were holding a contest for an alternative movie poster for the Blade Runner 2049 release on Blu-ray and DVD.
My initial concept for the poster was to create a triptych of the main characters in the film, so that they could be shown together in one large image and also cropped into three separate posters.
After completing that concept as a finished piece, I then thought it would be fun to take some of the key elements and make something reminiscent of the Drew Struzan poster for the original film, with the spinners and rain featuring in the illustration.
