I am a big fan of Martin McDonaghs films and was excited when I found out there would be a poster contest for his latest film, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The contest rules stipulated that the images should be in horizontal format as the winner would have their image printed for a physical billboard.
This illustration was created in a similar way that Drew Struzan used to produce his images. It was drawn in pencil and then the colour was essentially airbrushed over the top of that in a layer. My images are mostly created by hand on a computer with a lot of work going into making them have a realistic texture.
